40 years of ASK Kranjska Gora

The Alpine Ski Club Kranjska Gora celebrates 40 years. It was founded on 11 September 1983. It started from scratch and has grown to become one of the best organised ski clubs in the country, something we are very proud of.

We celebrated our anniversary on Friday, 20 October 2023, at the Legende Pub in Kranjska Gora. We were extremely happy to see everyone who came to the ceremony and the social gathering. All the past presidents of the club - Rajko Oman, Tomaž Bernik, Anton Albreht and Gregor Benedik - came and we prepared commemorative starting numbers for them. We wrote their surnames and number on them - in the order of their presidency.

We were also delighted to welcome surfers and skiers, our members who have reached the top of the world: Dejan Košir and Andrej Šporn were at the event, while Urška Rabič, Meta Hrovat and Jure Košir excused themselves and greeted the gathering from a distance. Dejan and Andrej received a retro commemorative medal - just like they were four decades ago when the club was founded.

The current President of ASK Kranjska Gora, Gregor Benedik, addressed the gathering, thanking all the predecessors for their efforts and good work, congratulating the competitors for their good results and wishing that skiing would live on in the town, that young people would like to join our ranks and learn how to ski well, and of course, some of them would develop their skiing careers further and reach for the world's top.
